Designed by Thanh Lam
This project was a complete renovation and addition to a century old house. A 600 square foot foundation was added to increase the living space by another 1800 square feet. The old house was stripped down to bare studs and every element thereafter was all brand new. The old main floor interior was heavily partitioned into many small rooms (typical of that era).
Chris Tyrrell of Tyrrell Custom Homes wanted to open up the main floor to create a dramatic more modern interior living space while
maintaining a heritage exterior consistent with the surrounding dwellings. The old bearing walls were replaced with engineered steel and wood beams. Thanh provided architectural designs and structural engineering drawings, applied for the development and building permit, and consulted during construction.
